An original hand-painted production cel of Meowth from the Pokémon anime, created during the original hand-painted era at OLM, Inc. between roughly 1997 and 2002. Meowth is instantly recognisable - Team Rocket's mascot, the only Pokémon who learned to speak human language, and a character who somehow managed to be funny, bitter, and emotional all at once across hundreds of episodes.
The cel captures Meowth exactly as remembered: full figure, expressive pose, bold outlines, and rich cel paint from the pre-digital era. Marked D8 in the upper right and presented over a printed background layout, it reflects how the piece would have lived in the studio before the painted background was composited underneath it for broadcast.
A clean slice of Pokémon nostalgia from the period when every frame was painted by hand and characters like Meowth were brought to life one cel at a time.
